Week 8: Final scaled model

ONGOING PROCESS

After creating 2.5D models and components using Fusion 360. I decided to use the skills and techniques I learnt following online tutorials to create a small card model which was laid out and planned using Fusion 360.

Before I began sketching and modelling in Fusion 360 I looked on Pinterest for ideas and inspiration.
Initial Fusion 360 concept model. I didn't like how large the model's layout was. This made me come to the decision to create a small model and experiment with how I could use the small space most effectively.

My 2nd concept model made using Fusion 360. A much tighter, smaller space which is the actual size of my room with wall height adjustments made to it.

To transfer this to a handmade model I used the align tool to create flat components which I could later print and cut out onto card. The model was scaled down to 1:50.
Creating a model using thin cardboard from Weet-Bix box and 200gsm white card.

Measuring out square to cut to create a window.

Adding another level, bed from paddle pop sticks and feature wall using thin string.

Final model. Consists of a swing, three levels, bed, stairs, feature wall, skylights and window.

 FINAL SCALED MODEL

Overall I had an aim to create a small model made from card and techniques used in Fusion 360. I wanted to show that a room can be small but can be planned out to make space become more effective and interesting. I created details using string and card to manipulate light throughout all the levels.

(All human models would be 170cm tall)

Top-level: consists of simple window sill which acts as both a way to let in natural light and seating option.
