Week 5: Paper Model
ONGOING PROCESS
EXPERIENCING WITH DIFFERENT SHAPES AND FOLDING TECHNIQUES
I made the decision to use skills learnt from online videos and websites and played around with creating folding modelling and a couple sketch models on my room.

FIRST SKETCH PAPER MODEL
Folding different sized elements to show depth
|
Cutting slots and lines to add the detail of the window. When used with light can show the window's ability to capture light and display interesting patterns on the floor. |
Using folding elements to make spaces between the wall and the ceiling to show the space in the room
|
Adding slots for doorways to let in light from the corridor
|
Preliminary sketches to document the size of the room and main features of the room. |
FINAL PAPER MODEL
After creating my first paper sketch model I decided to refine my ideas to a simple, clean model which better represents my room.
I wanted to keep this model simple yet still consist of clean and straight cuts. Even though I created another model I decided to submit this one as it is refined, to scale and has simple folding techniques and cuts to represent the room's features; mirrors and windows. I wanted to focus on the main shape of the model and ways to manipulate light and shadows with the window, therefore I left out the ceiling for this design.
(All human models would be 170cm tall)

Light Movement
Top angled view of the room. Showcases how light can create a silhouette of plants which would be planted outside of the window. |
Top angled view with even lighting. |
Folding techniques used to create a mirrored wardrobe. |
The door is able to act as a way to allow light to pass through the space. |
Look of the room through the outside of the model. |
