Week 6: Cardboard model

ONGOING PROCESS

Initial sketches to look further into details and more refined ideas such as feature walls and folding techniques which can resemble main components of the room.

FINAL MODEL

I wanted to keep this model extremely simple working with textures, folding techniques and combinations of various materials to give a specific look to the room. I decided to work with recycled cardboard and coloured paper as it was the only material I had which was strong enough to stand up and thick enough to initiate walls.

I decided to use tracing paper to my advantage following my research and experimenting with it in my actual room with natural lighting. It is a good way to dim the light which would come through the window and create an interesting looking texture for the mirror wardrobe.

Using human figures/models to showcase the size of the room

I utilised folding techniques to create wall art/feature wall. I was inspired by current trends and themes.

Detachable roof: using sticks and card to not allow light to pass through

I decided to use a larger range of materials which I could find at home. This included tracing paper and recycled cardboard (from old cereal boxes). I utilised light to showcase a specific mood of relaxation.

Using a combination of tracing paper and coloured paper to create a texture to resemble/represent glass and mirrors.
